Dental decay or cavity is a permanently damaged areas in teeth caused by accumulated bacteria’s onto tooth.
Dental caries is caused by the action of acids on the enamel surface. The acid is produced when sugars (mainly sucrose) in foods or drinks react with bacteria present in the dental bio-film (plaque) on tooth surface.
There may be no symptoms, but if left untreated, can cause toothache, infection and ultimately tooth loss.
To Prevent Tooth Decay:
1. Brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride containing tooth paste.
2. Clean between your teeth daily with dental floss or inter-dental cleaners.
3. Professionals dental cleaning every 6 months.
